Christmas "Reflection"

A Christmas Prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson

Loving Father, Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgi
ving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake.
Amen

November "Reflection"

After spending the past two years in Umbria, this was my first Thanksgiving back in Boston. It was truly a blessing to be back home with my family and to have both my little nephews there to celebrate. As usual, Gianluca and I cooked up the traditional Thanksgiving feast including our famous homemade Pumpkin Soup.

I thought I would share this beautiful Thanksgiving prayer I came across...

This Thanksgiving let those of us who have much and those who have little gather at the welcoming table of the Lord. At this blessed feast, may rich and poor alike remember that we are called to serve on another and to walk together in God's gracious world. With thankful hearts we praise our God who like a loving parent denies us no good thing.Today and every day, it pleases God for us to sit as brothers and sisters as we share the bounty of the earth and the grace God has placed in each blessed soul. For this we all give thanks and praise to our loving and gracious God.

October "Reflection"

Paul to the Corinthians: 13:4-13

There is no limit to love's forbearance, to its trust, its hope, its power to endure. Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, love is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing. For we know partially and we prophesy partially, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I used to talk as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I put aside childish things. At present we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. At present I know partially; then I shall know fully as I am fully known. So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

September "Reflection"

Support my brother Aldo in Racing to Save Lives Against Leukemia & Lymphoma

My name is Aldo V. Ursino. My fondest childhood memories always included the presence of two of the most wonderful people in the world, they were my maternal grandparents. Growing up I was especially blessed to be able to share my home with them also.

Frank and Nina Ursino were exceptionally generous, caring, and for me two of the most loving people on the whole planet. They continued to be role models and caregivers to me and my sisters and I have to say I don’t know how they managed to keep their sanity during our most rebellious teenage years. It must of been by Grace from above!

In January of 1995 I lost my wonderful grandmother to Leukemia. I remember shortly before that I had left a beautiful woman in good health to go into the Army National Guard only to return six months later to a tired, and sickly woman in need of constant care and attention. Her sickness though may of attacked her body , but not her soul. The love that she had for us while in tip top health was ever present throughout her personal interior struggle.

My mother together with her siblings was relentless in giving her around the clock care and supervision. They all took turns to be sure all her demands were met, lavishing her with all the attention she deserved. She fought her battle as she did everything else, with courage, fortitude, and most importantly faith.

She fought until the very end, and then on January 25, 1995 she said her last goodbye, until we meet again, on the other side.

Two years after her earthly death, my loving grandfather also died of cancer. In those two years he would utter the words, “I want to be with your grandmother”, and that day came in November of 1997.

This chapter in the lives of the “Ursinos” fueled a passion for knowledge which led my sister Sonia to become a physician. She was touched by the suffering humans must undergo during such illnesses and wanted to be of service to the sick. She now practices medicine in the Boston area.

I am running in order to show support for this organization and also to show my young son Alex Q. that one must be pro-active to bring about goodness and change. I ask you to contribute to this noble cause and thank you in advance for your consideration.

August "Reflection"

Novena to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

August 7-15

Majestic Queen of Heaven and Mistress of the Angels, you received from God the power and command to crush the head of satan. Therefore, we humbly beg of you, send forth the legions of Heaven, that under your command they may seek out all evil spirits, engage them everywhere in battle, curb their pride, and hurl them back into the pit of hell. “Who is like unto God?”

With firm confidence we present ourselves before you, our most loving Mother, afflicted and troubled as we are, and we beg you to let us understand the love you have for us by granting this petition, if it is according to the Will of God and profitable for our salvation:
(mention your request).

Good and tender Mother, you shall ever be our hope and the object of our love. Mother of God, send forth the Holy Angels to defend us and drive far from us the cruel foe. Holy Angels and Archangels, defend and keep us.

July "Reflection"

Back Home in Good Ol' Boston
After two years of living in the Tuscan/Umbrian region of Italy, I recently moved back to my home of Boston, Massachusetts. While living in Italy, I had attended the University of Perugia while working for the Oxford School of Languages. Also, since music has and always will be a hobby of mine, I began working on a new song 'Life Again' which was released early this year and was promoted throughout Italian radio.
My move back to Massachusetts came as a surprise. My fiance' who is a physician in Italy had decided he would leave everything behind and begin a career in medicine here in the States. I have to say, I am very happy with his career decision, although it's going to be a long road ahead. Italy is truly a beautiful land rich in culture, but I feel that after living in the United States for 28 years, it was far too difficult to adjust to the lifestyle there. We are truly fortunate to have the opportunity of visiting Italy as often as we do, since Gianluca's family reside in Umbria. Also, we plan on spending our summer vacations in the South on the crystal clear coast of the Ionian Sea, where both of our families are originally from and where we had first met.

This month also brings about more exciting news for the Ursino & Beauvais Family.
God blessed us with the birth of my little nephew Michael Francis!

June "Reflection"

This Sacred Heart Rug was brought to America by my grandparents in the 1950’s. It traveled by ship across the Atlantic from Naples to Boston. My mother Rose, who always had a devotion to the Sacred Heart, stored it away for over 50 years. On Mother's Day of this year, my siblings and I surprised her by having it preserved and framed. Everyone who comes to our home is greeted by the Image of the Sacred Heart, so our guests’ can understand who the Master of our House is. : )
To all the men that have been given the role as “Dads",
Have a Happy & Blessed Father’s Day !!!

May "Reflection"

TUTTO IL MONDO E’ PAESE

“Tutto il mondo e’ paese”
la mia mamma diceva
non dimentichero’ mai
le cose che faceva.

Con sorrisi e tenerezze
raccontava che gli anziani
sapevano di piu’
della gioventu’
che e’ perduta sempre piu’.

Lei consigli sempre dava
ma io non ho ascoltato
e percio’ mi son trovata
con il cuore tutto “ruotto”

Ora lei se ne andata
ma non dentro il cuore mio
e’ viva nella mia anima
e nella mente mia.

Con parole giudiziose
e sapienza piu’ divina
lei mi aiuta qui adesso
forse ancora piu’ di prima.

Adesso lei e’ cittadina
del paradiso promesso a tutti
e i mali di una volta
eternamente son distrutti.

La da dove tutto e’ possibile
lascia che i nostri defunti
ci aiutino a capire
cosa fare per essere salvati.

Si tutto il mondo sara’ paese
e anche se sembra lontano
il giorno arriva come il vento
quando di nuovo ci rincontriamo.

Come un lampo fulminante
rivedremo i nostri cari
che erano una volta morti
eternamente risvegliati.
